As a father of four children
Robert,Kathleen,Thomas and Michelle
who accidentally stumble across a video on YouTube a couple of months ago that was so disturbing that two of them were crying. That video depicted starvation and the problem of world hunger. When the video was done my youngest daughter Michelle asked “daddy can we help them”? Now imagine a seven year old with tears in her eyes looking at me like I would have the answer for world hunger. A few minutes passed and I finally said yes Michelle we will help though at the time I had no clue on how or even where to start.
The first place we started was using Google search which turned up hundreds of results. Now came the hard part was figuring out how we could make a difference there are hundreds of charities to donate to the problem with those charities was that a single father of four young children the oldest just turned twelve was a hundred dollar donation would not help much in the overall scheme of things.
What we did find was a program called Network Goodness their motto is “doing well by doing good”. They are doing is developing a Global Network of normal people just like us, who are making it THEIR BUSINESS to develop a substantial impact on world hunger problem.
Their Goal, and mission statement, is to END World Hunger, by 2021!
I guess the best way to explain this is teaching and training anyone who wants to help how to help. Like the old saying goes” Give a man a fish and he eats today teach that man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”.
This is the underlying goal of the Network Goodness project.
The unfortunate truth of the problem of world hunger is my family doesn’t have a lot of spendable cash after we pay all the bills and I am pretty sure millions of people are in the same position.
What project goodness has been able to do is allow a family like mine to make a business out of becoming a part on the solution to world hunger
Feeding Starving Children
by creating a network of people who can make a living by feeding starving kids around the world. What I was starting to understand was we were not in a great place financially to help in a major way.
The thought process her is creating a paradigm shift in charitable funding! The best way to try and explain this is, have you ever taken a plane anywhere before the flight can take off the stewardess explains how to put on the oxygen mask and then says make sure you do your mask first so that you can help people after your safe.
This type of mindset is what drives Network Goodness, all of us have to be able to take care of ourselves before we are to help those in need which in turn will allow us to make a significant difference in world hunger by creating a perpetual fund generator how cool is that?
